"Hi everybody now I'm going to show you how to do another classic magic trick with stuff you can find around the office. So go to your desk or a friends desk get you some tissue, tissues we are going to roll these up to a ball here. Make these into little balls again.

This what I'm going to do is set these out into a square like this. Now if I just give them a little cover like this we would see one of them jump across to join it's friend in the corner. Now if I cover them up again another one jumps across just like that to join it's friend in the corner.

The last one we are going to do even a little further away, give it a little cover like this a little wiggle and it jumps right across to join it's friend in the corner like that and that is how you do the paper ball matrix and in a minute I'm going to show you how to do that. "

"Hi everybody let's do the explanation for the paper ball matrix. Now if your somebody who is studying magic in the side and you have a book on magic this trick may have the unfortunate name of Chink and chinks sadly some magic books where written before the political correctness but if you every see that name for a trick in a book this is what they are talking about.

Now we are going to make our 4 little paper balls and you want to have a extra one. Now I'm going to hold this in my left hand I like holding it here clipped on my thumb like that. Kind of spread these out and what I did was I was arranging these in a square, I took this one out of my pocket, I had a extra one ready to go.

Okay I'm going to hold this in my left hand and what I'm going to do is cover the opposite corners like this. I'm going to drop this one here and I'm going to pick this one up here like this.

So it goes like that and they look like this and I'm going to come across like this, cover with the hand that is holding the extra ball, I'm going to cover this one same thing you can give a little shake if you want, drop the extra one, pick up the one here, then one more time we come across just like this, we cover with the extra ball, you can move this one a little bit further away if you want, give it a little squeeze like that and that make that ball jump across and that is how you do that paper ball matrix."

Two Card Selections

"Alright everybody, let's do a trick with the stripper deck using the principle I just showed you. We'll have two cards selected. Say they were selected from a fan. They can be returned to the deck. We'll give it a shuffle and a cut. Now, for the first card, I'm just going to run my finger along the deck just like this. I'm going to pull out one card. That was the king of diamonds.

Shuffle the deck again. For the next card it's going to be a little more difficult. I'm going to cover my eyes with my hand, just reach over, cut the deck, and find the second selected card, the jack of diamonds. That's the two card selection using the stripper deck. In just a minute I'll show you how to do that."

"Alright everybody, so basically to do the two card selection, we combine some principles and some ideas I already talked about into a trick. Let me run it through for you so you have it all in one place. These were the cards we used, the king of diamonds and the jack of diamonds. These could of have been selected from a fan. That's probably what I would have done or I would have had them selected from a spread like this. Let's say they were selected from the spread.

We'll do the square up like this, then I can have the first person return their card. The second person maybe I'll do something like have them say stop. They can return their card there, they can just push it into the deck somewhere. It doesn’t matter because now I know right where those two cards are. I can even see them a little bit sticking out there. It's hard for the camera to see probably, but I can see the edges of the cards sticking out. We'll give them a shuffle.

I'll use the over hand shuffle for the first one. All I'm going to do is strip out one of the two cards. This is the case where they don't know what you're going to do. If you're stripping them out and you get both of them, you still did a good trick. I'm going to try and get just one of them and strip it out just like that and show them that's the jack of diamonds. Then we'll cut the deck.

I gave it a riffle shuffle. Again, being really careful not to reverse the other half. Then for the second card, I just my hand over my eyes and then I reached over and I gently grip the edge of the card that I can feel sticking out and cut right to the second selected card, the king of diamonds. That's how you do the two card selection using a stripper deck."

Two Card Variation Using a Stripper Card Deck

"Here's some other ideas to use with a multiple card selection. The first idea is that you can use more than two cards. We'll use the jack and the king and this 7 of clubs. Once they're reversed in the deck, you can have them in different spots like that. You can shuffle the deck as much as you'd like and you can do a few different things.

You can Hindu shuffle the deck, and if you can keep doing that eventually you're going to strip out all 3 cards and they're going to end up on top. Or you could pull one card out, cut to the second one, and then for the third one you can do a Hindu shuffle until you run out of cards and then strip it right out like that.

There's also one variation that we're going to put in a trick where if have the cards on top, you could cut the deck again. Now they're all together in the deck and you can just strip them all out and kind of spread them like that. That gives it a cool sort of poker player flare to it.

I'll review that for you quickly. If we have the cards at 3 different spots in the deck and we do the Hindu shuffle and they end up stripped out so they're all on top. Then we can cut the deck, and using the strip out, we can just pull all three cards at the same time. That's a cool flourishy way to reveal multiple cards."

"Alright, so let's do another cool card location using the Svengali deck. This one is called the card in the bag. You need a brown paper bag. So, we'll have our spectator say stop, you can look at the card, put it back in the deck, mix it around so nobody knows where it is. Then, I'm going to take the deck, take the brown paper bag and we'll place this right inside just like this.

Using my expertly trained fingers, I cover my eyes here, reach in the bag, no that's the 4 of spades, that's the 6 of hearts, oh, I think I got it. I got one card from the deck and it just happens to be your selected card, queen of clubs. So come back in a minute and I'm going to show you how to do the card in the bag."

"Alright everybody, so let me show you how to do the card in the bag trick. You need to get yourself a brown paper bag, just a standard bag, there's nothing tricky about it and you need your Svengali deck. Now, we have our card selected just like this and this is all kind of a bunch of red hair and stuff because I'm going to have the cards shuffled. I'm going to mix them up just like this.

If you want you can have a spectator cut the deck, but no matter what happens, like we remember from before, there's always a duplicated of the selected card on top. So, we're going to take the deck, place it flat in the bottom of the bag, so it's just laying flat like this right in the bottom of the paper bag.

All I'm going to do is reach in and grab the top part card and pull it out and show it to you. But to add a little bit of sort of presentational stuff to it, I'm going to cover my eyes and reach in and look like I'm reading the cards with my fingertips. So I can go that's the 4 of spades, that's the 6 of hearts, that one's the kind of diamonds, oh, oh wait I got it right here, I got it and you pull it out.

You can pull it out with the back toward them and then you can show them that's their selected card, the queen of clubs. In just a minute I'll show you some more variations on the card in the back."

"Alright, so I'm going to show you some variations on the card in the bag trick and this is going to use a little bit of the impossible location stuff that we talked about before and I'm going to show you some other ways to do that. Then, coming up I'm going to show you one more version that you can even do this in a show. But anyway, we'll have our card selected.

Now, the part that's going to be the same is that if we take the cards, we can put them in the box, buckle that top card out again, close the flap under the box and we can grab our paper bag and we can put the deck right inside the paper bag and then it sort of adds that extra layer of impossibility. We reach in, take the card right out of the box, inside the bag we pull it right out of the box just like that.

So now it's in the box, in the bag, we can pull that right out and show them just like that. You could also use the duplicate card idea that we did before and what you would do is you would do the trick just like we did a minute ago. Only you would close the box normally and wrap a rubber band around it and then you're going to have a duplicate card in the bag.

You can even have the bag folded up with the card on the bottom of it. Then you would put the deck in the bag, reach in and just quickly pull the card out just like that. In the minute I'm going to show you one more variation to do in like a bigger show and it will be cool, so come back."
